BLACK FRIDAY

"Black Friday is an informal name for the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, the fourth Thursday of November, which has been regarded as the beginning of the country's Christmas shopping season since 1952"

I have only ever perceived Black Friday as a day of shopping mania. Am I wrong? Perhaps not.
According to The Balance, it was given its' name by the Philadelphia Police Department as there were so many accidents on this day due to crazy shoppers.

As the world grows, I have come to find that we have a common ground in western society, we are rampantly consumer hungry. Black Friday enhances this to an unbearable level. Scrambling through stock as if you have no clothes at home, buying TV's as if its' the last ones they'll ever make, and selfishly spending money as if someone doesn't need it more than you. Amongst the commotion, big bushiness' laugh at their earnings.

Where did Black Friday come from?

Black Friday - like Halloween, McDonalds and theme parks - is an export from the other side of the Atlantic.

UNITED CHAOS

It is believed that Black Friday started in the UK around 2010, with Amazon jumping on the online bandwagon. Following that throughout the years, mainly electronic stores participated. Now, you'll struggle to find a high street store that doesn't partake.

Britons are not expected to slow their spending in 2016. Tech firm Adobe predicts online shopping will hit £24.3bn throughout the festive season, £2.46bn higher than in 2015.
